Just wanted to say thanks for an excellent (and very appropriate) first guest post. Kudos to you for writing on a topic I'm sure most people would be too scared to bring up.

Josh -

Fantastic piece and great having it here.

With so much information and so many resources and people who can be of value it's a fine line between trying to offer guidance or information to those new the platform (and those looking to be exposed to new things) and making an end-all;be-all list.

Hey Josh, it's great to see your post. I know I feel the same way as you about Top X Number lists. Of any industry, really! Things like that turn my little online sandbox into the same sort of thing I've dreaded my whole life: popularity contests. It seems silly that, in a place with infinite space and breadth, that anyone would try and shrink it to "this is all you need to care about."

That said, I am contributing to a blog that does implicitly say "this is all you need to care about" but I hope y'all hear the silent "...for the moment" added to the end of that.
