Nicely done, Valerie. It is an interesting question. I have been approached by others to write a post on my blog, and have turned down most requests as they are not a fit.

And, I was recently asked to write a post for someone else's blog, and said No as I saw no ROI for my work (I'm a better writer, more concise and have a POV than the other person).

It's really up to each blog on how they want to operate. For me, it takes special consideration for me to hand over a post to someone else. Are they germane to my audience? Then again, I write for a handful of people, and the rest is gravy to me. Do they have a POV that they can articulate and argue? Those are the questions I ask.

Thanks Sherri... very much appreciate the kind words and hospitality. And certainly agree that people are at the center.

Tressa, very sweet, and you know you have introduced me to new worlds as well ;) Regarding time... that's where the two smallest Simons come in handy. I now have a curfew. They are supposed to go to bed at 8pm. The 3 yr old does not... unless mom is in the room. So I've taken to bringing the laptop in... Writing by the glow of the night light is sort of nice ;)

Great post Valerie! And, like @PRcog I've been wondering just when do you find the time to do all this writing - the BurrellesLuce Fresh Ideas blog, (list of) guest blogs, your Examiner column... and to top it off, with two Simon-ettes to take care of! Your posts always make sense and make for good reading. And, they have definitely introduced me to some new communities. Kudos Valerie - you are my hero. :-)

Valerie, you're always welcome over at our place ;)

Guest posts are great - to me, it's mainly about your #2 above - People. You make such a great point - it's really about bringing people and communities together; introducing a group you interact with to a fresh perspective, and introducing others you interact with to that group. To me, this is what social media is all about. Great post and thanks for stopping by!
