How does the Green Day song go? "Are we, we are the waiting unknown…”
Great article. I would add a fourth... TRUST. Trust that if you stay connected, be well informed and keep searching that, eventually, some organization will recognize your gifts and talents. What would be the result of trusting in your circumstances? A sense of confidence that outweighs any waiting you may have to go through.

You can drive yourself nuts doing this waiting/over analyzing game. I know I have! You hear from one that you are iffy about and wonder, well perhaps the one I really want will respond soon so I should wait or not wait.

I personally had to learn not to go crazy over it and just know that everything happens for a reason. There was a time I took a job because I wasn't hearing from anyone and 3 months (!!!!) later when things were coming to an end at what clearly was a wrong decision, the company I really wanted to work for contacted me, said they would love to bring me on because a new position opened they thought would fit with me more then the original one I applied for.

Now this is a total extreme case of coincidence, luck, whatever you want to call it, but enough of these have happened that you just have to go with the flow and things will happen. Unfortunately there is no standard that companies actually follow in regards to getting back to candidates because every company is so different.

But yes, it definitely sucks to wait it out. Good post!

Dude, we all know exactly how you feel. When a company says they're looking for someone "ASAP" you think "finally! I'm going to get out of college and start my adult life right off the bat!" But in corporate world, ASAP usually means 3-4 weeks. Or a month. Or a few months.

Great post Keegan! I think the same principles can also be applied to current professionals who might be looking for new employment. I believe in never resting on my laurels when it comes to job searching - because you might miss the perfect opportunity. Best of luck as you continue your job search and fingers crossed that the perfect company comes calling soon!
