Eric, I just saw that babyberto twitter handle and it made me laugh, (even though its oddly creepy yet cute with the sonogram picture). Congrats to you also!

I think it can be fun, and I say why not?

Well before I found out we were having a baby, I knew I wanted to blog about it. As soon as I found out we were pregnant (that's what I have to say nowadays, "we), I had a domain (http://www.babyberto.com) and a twitter account set up (http://www.twitter.com/babyberto).

Some people called me crazy. This was five months ago. Now, everybody is doing it. Our soon-to-be little girl is already an accomplished networker with other soon-to-bes. It's new. And what is new is different and intimidating to people. Do what you want and congratulations :)

Really interesting question, Marie. I've already created a gmail account for my 3yo son, and I just jumped on it to secure his domain name and twitter handle (thanks for the kick in the butt). But for now, they will lie dormant - just placeholders for whatever he decides he wants to do with them. I'll let him create his own digital footprint. I'm not as hands off his digital life as some - I do post photos of him on my facebook page every now and then and I've posted a few to Twitter. But that's about it (for now, anyway).
