PRBC Bites: Tsk Tsk FB; Handy Tip for Android Users; $5 Logo?

Facebook had quite a week last week…In “real” (applicable to the business, that is) news they’ve set a deadline on fan-gating of content or contests.  Which of course makes sense since having a fan like a page without spending some cash in the Facebook ad store is pretty worthless anyway.

In more bizarre news the folks at FB finally carried through on their threat and turned off access to messages from the existing mobile app, requiring you to download the messenger app (or use the mobile site) if you want to send messages via mobile (why they didn’t integrate Whatsapp at this point, beyond press for forcing the integration so early, is beyond me). The real kick in the pants – as you might expect had “some” backlash. “Some” as in 94% of Apple app store ratings are at one star, making it perhaps the first app to get to the top spot that everyone hates (but apparently doesn’t hate enough to say, no, I just won’t download it, my Facebook messages can wait).

Are we really ok with compromising what we actually want that we can’t say ‘No’ to Facebook when they do something stupid?

Oh, and Android users – read this – pretty cool!

Ever considered those $5 logo services? Take a gander over here to see what you might be getting yourself into (and how you can double check work).
